The Sebastiane Awards organize an Ibero-American LGTBI Festivals Meeting within the San Sebastián Festival Industry Activities.

PREMIO SEBASTIANE

El Premio Sebastiane es un premio cinematográfico que se entrega todos los meses de septiembre al largometraje o documental proyectado durante el Festival de San Sebastián que mejor refleje los valores y la realidad de lesbianas, gais, transexuales y bisexuales.

Las películas que participan en el el premio se eligen entre todas la secciones competitivas que componen el Festival: Sección Oficial, Nuev@s Director@as, Zabaltegi-Tabakalera, Horizontes Latinos, Made in Spain, etc.

ORIGEN DEL SEBASTIANE

En el año 2000 nació la idea de crear un premio de cine gay-lésbico dentro del ámbito del Festival de Cine de San Sebastián (Zinemaldia).

Dicha idea surgió entre las filas de Gehitu, Asociación de gays, lesbianas, bisexuales y transexuales del País Vasco. Con ello se pretendía que, al igual que ya sucedía desde 1987 en la Berlinale con el Teddy Award, el premio ayudase a que las películas con contenido homosexual tuviesen mayor relevancia en las salas de cine y en los medios de comunicación.

Nombre del Premio
El nombre del premio, «Sebastiane», se puso en honor a la película del mismo nombre, que dirigió en 1976 el británico Derek Jarman. Fue su primera película, en la cual, el director hizo trato introspectivo del soldado romano Sebastián, mártir del cristianismo, luego santo en la Edad Media y, posteriormente, convertido en icono homoerótico. San Sebastián, patrono de Donostia / San Sebastián, supone un símbolo de las raíces de la propia ciudad sede del Festival como de la propia cultura homosexual. Todo esto hace que sea la imagen perfecta para que represente al Premio Sebastiane.

SEBASTIANE SARIA

Irailean banatzen da Donostiako Zinemaldian, lesbiana, gay, transexual eta bisexualen balioak eta errealitatea hobekien islatzen dituen filma edo dokumentala saritzen duena da.

Film irabazlearen aukeraketa Zinemaldia osatzen duten sail lehiakor guztien artean egiten da: Sail Ofiziala, Zuzendari Berriak, Zabaltegi-Tabakalera, Horizontes Latinos, Made in Spain, etab.

2000urtean sortu zen Donostiako Zinemaldian gay-lesbiana zinemaren sari bat sortzeko ideia

Ideia hori Gehitu Euskal Herriko gay, lesbiana, bisexual eta transexualen Elkarteko kideen artean sortu zen. Horrela, 1987tik Berlinalen Teddy Awardekin («Teddy Saria») gertatzen zen bezala, sariak eduki homosexuala duten filmek zinema-aretoetan eta komunikabide orokorretan garrantzi handiagoa izaten laguntzea lortu nahi zen.

Sariaren izena, «Sebastiane», 1976an Derek Jarman britainiarrak zuzendu zuen izen bereko filmaren omenez jarri zen. Bere lehen filma izan zen, non, zuzendariak, Sebastian soldadu erromatarraren introspekziozko tratua egin zuen, kristautasunaren martiria, ondoren santua Erdi Aroan eta, ondoren, ikono homoerotiko bihurtua. Donostia, Donostiako patroia, Zinemaldiaren egoitza den hiriaren sustraien eta kultura homosexualaren beraren ikur da. Guzti honen ondorioz, Sebastiane Sariaren irudi perfektua da.

SEBASTIANE AWARD

Sebastiane Award is a prize delivered in September, since 2000, to a film or documentary screened during San Sebastián International Film Festival that best reflects the values and reality of lesbians, gays, transgenders and bisexuals.

The selection of the winner film is carried out between all sections that make up the Festival.

SEBASTIANE ORIGINS

In 2000 was raised the idea of creating Sebastiane Award. This idea came up among Gehitu members, a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender association from the Basque Country.

The goal intended, as it was already happening from 1987 on with the Teddy Award in the Berlinale, was that the prize would help gay-theme movies have more relevance in movies theatres as well as in mass media.

THE NAME
The name given to the Award, “Sebastiane”, honoured the film with the same name directed in 1976 by British Derek Jarman.
Saint Sebastian, patron saint of San Sebastián (Donostia), is a root symbol of the city itself, venue of the Festival, but likewise it is too a symbol the homosexual culture itself.

2020 SEBASTIANE LATINO

PREMIO SEBASTIANE LATINO

Este premio quiere reconocer la mejor producción LGTBI latinoamericana del año. El galardón se entrega en el Festival de San Sebastián todos los septiembres.

Las candidatas no son las películas seleccionadas por el Festival de San Sebastián, como en el Premio Sebastiane, sino que son toda aquella película latina de temática LGTBI estrenada en el año.

Origen del Sebastiane Latino

En 2013, se da un salto con la creación del Premio Sebastiane Latino. Un jurado especializado se encarga de visionar las películas cuyo estreno internacional se produce entre el final del Festival de San Sebastián en septiembre y el mismo mes del año siguiente. El premio busca apoyar las producciones LGTBI iberoamericanas de cara a su distribución comercial y a reforzar su visibilidad.

Con los mismos objetivos los Premios Sebastiane reunen a los programadores iberoamericanos de Festivales LGTBI en San Sebastián durante su Festival.

SEBASTIANE LATINO SARIA

Sari honek Latinoamerikako urteko LGTBI ekoizpen onena saritu nahi du. Saria Donostiako Zinemaldian banatzen da irailero.

Hautagaiak ez dira Donostia Zinemaldiak aukeratutako filmak, Sebastiane Sarian bezala, baizik eta urtean estreinatutako LGTBI gaiko film latindar guztia.

Sebastiane Latino jatorria

2013an Sebastiane Latino Saria sortu zen. Epaimahai espezializatu bat arduratzen da nazioarteko estreinaldia irailean Donostiako Zinemaldiaren amaieran eta hurrengo urteko hilabete berean izaten duten filmak ikusteaz. Sariak Iberoamerikako LGTBI ekoizpenak babestea du helburu, banaketa komertzialari eta ikusgarritasuna indartzeari begira.

Helburu berberekin, Sebastiane sariek LGTBI jaialdietako programatzaile iberoamerikarrak biltzen dituzte Donostian, Zinemaldian zehar.

SEBASTIANE LATINO AWARD

This award recognizes the best Latin American LGTBI production of the year.

The candidates are not the films selected by the Festival of San Sebastián, as in the Sebastiane Prize, but they are all that Latin film of thematic LGTBI released in the year.

Origins of Sebastiane Latino

In 2013, there is a step with the creation of the Premio Sebastiane Latino. A specialized jury is in charge of viewing the films whose international premiere takes place between the end of the Festival of San Sebastián in September and the same month of the following year. The prize seeks to support Ibero-American LGTBI productions in their commercial distribution and to reinforce their visibility.

With the same objectives, the Sebastiane Awards bring together Ibero-American programmers from LGTBI Festivals in San Sebastián during their Festival.
