El jurado del Premio Sebastiane, que cada año otorga la asociación Gehitu (Asociación de gays, lesbianas, transexuales y bisexuales del País Vasco) en el marco del Festival Internacional de cine de San Sebastián, ha resuelto otorgar el PREMIO SEBASTIANE LATINO 2013 a la película a:

QUEBRANTO

por el reflejo del sufrimiento -el quebranto- provocado en las personas transgénero ante el rechazo o la incomprensión social que acaba condenándolas a unas escasas salidas laborales, lo cual complica un ya difícil proceso personal.

Quebranto es un documental  que propone un divertido juego entre ficción y realidad. Es cine que dosifica la información a lo largo de su metraje para introducirnos en una intriga que nos atrapa, y suave, pero firmemente, nos hace atisbar qué supone darse cuenta, sentirse y empezar un proceso de cambio transgénero.

El jurado valora su sobriedad, esquivando la tentación de caer en el sensacionalismo,  que no le impide refl

ejar  con gran valentía, dignidad y respecto la realidad y la vulnerabilidad de sus personajes, ofreciendo un resultado final hermoso y profundo.

El jurado también valora  el trabajo de recuperación para la memoria histórica del cine latinoamericano, mexicano en este caso, de aquellos que la industria olvidó.

El Sebastiane Latino nace como prolongación del Premio Sebastiane, que este año cumplirá su XIV edición. Nace de la cercanía con América Latina y de la apuesta del Zinemaldi por su cine, acreditada en secciones como “Horizontes Latinos” o “Cine en construcción”. Desde esa proximidad y desde la repercusión de un Festival Internacional, este premio quiere colaborar para que los valores de respeto y de libertad sexual avancen en Iberoamérica frente el machismo y la intolerancia.

En un mundo globalizado, donde cada vez nos sentimos más cercanos con otros países, el cine puede hacer mucho para dar referentes donde se apoye el respeto a las  diferentes formas de ser, de ver la vida y de sentir.

El jurado ha visionado cerca de 30 películas de distintos países. Aunque se elija sólo a una de ellas, se pretende que este trabajo sirva de apoyo y reconocimiento a todas las personas que las han hecho posible, y también de altavoz a la apuesta creciente del cine latinoamericano en la defensa de las personas LGTB.

Gehitu elkarteak (Euskal Herriko lesbiana, gay, transexual eta bisexualen elkartea) Donostia Zinemaldiaren esparruan urtero ematen duen Sebastiane Sariaren epaimahaiak 2013KO SEBASTIANE LATINO SARIA Roberto Fiesco zuzendari mexikarraren QUEBRANTO filmari ematea erabaki du, transgenero pertsonen sufrimendua –quebranto edo atsekabea– bikain islatzen jakin duelako. Izan ere, pertsona horiek jasaten duten gizarte-bazterkeriak eta ez-ulertzeak lan egiteko ateak ixten dizkie eta berez zaila den prozesu pertsonala are eta zailago bihurtzen dute. Quebranto dokumentalak fikzioaren eta errealitatearen arteko jolas dibertigarria proposatzen du. Informazioa pixkanaka emango digu, eta horrek sorturiko intrigak erabat harrapatuko gaitu, eta poliki-poliki konturatuko gara zer den transgenero pertsona bat garela konturatzea, hala sentitzen hastea eta aldaketa-prozesuari ekitea.

Epaimahaiak lanaren neurritasuna balioetsi du, sentsazionalismoan erortzeko tentazioari eusten baitio, baina ausardia, duintasun eta errealitatearekiko errespetu handiarekin erakusten baitu pertsonaien errealitatea eta zaurgarritasuna, emaitza eder eta sakona lortuta. Epaimahaiak, bestalde, balio handia eman dio Latinoamerikako zinemarentzat, eta, kasu honetan, Mexikokoarentzat industriak ahantzitako haiek berreskuratzeko eginiko lana.

Sebastiane Latino saria aurten XIV. edizioa beteko duen Sebastiane Sariaren luzapen gisa jaio zen; Latinoamerikarekiko gertutasunetik eta Zinemaldiak Horizontes Latinos edota Zinema Eraikitzen sailen bitartez herrialde horietako zinemaren alde egiten duen apustutik sortu ere. Gertutasun hori eta nazioarteko zinema-jaialdi batek duen oihartzuna kontuan izanik, sari honek errespetuaren eta sexu-askatasunaren balioek Latinoamerikan aurrera egin dezaten eta matxismoa eta intolerantzia desager daitezen lagundu nahi du.

Gurea bezalako mundu globalizatu batean, beste herrialdeengandik gero eta gertuago gaude, eta zinemak lan handia egin dezake izateko, bizitza ikusteko eta sentitzeko modu desberdinekiko errespetuaren euskarri izango diren erreferenteak eskaintzeko.

Epaimahaiak hainbat herrialdetako 30 film baino gehiago ikusi ditu. Haietako bakarra aukeratuta ere, lan hori posible egin duten guztiak babestu eta errekonozitu nahi ditu, eta, horrez gain, LGTB kolektiboa defendatzen Latinoamerikako zinemak egiten duen gero eta apustu handiagoari oihartzuna eman.

The Jury of the Sebastiane Award, granted every year by Gehitu (Basque Gay, Lesbian, Transgender and Bisexual Association) at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, has decided to grant its SEBASTIANE LATINO 2013 AWARD to the Mexican production

for its reflection of the suffering – quebranto in Spanish – caused in transgender people by the lack of social understanding  and rejection that condemns them to leaving home no more than occasionally to go to work, thereby complicating an already difficult personal process. Quebranto proposes an entertaining game between fiction and reality in a documentary that releases information in little doses throughout its footage to create an intrigue that traps us gently but firmly, giving usa look at what it means to realise, feel and initiate a process of transgender change.

The jury appreciates its sobriety, its avoidance of the temptation to give in to sensationalism, a fact that does nothing to prevent it from reflecting, with enormous courage, dignity and respect, the reality and vulnerability of its characters, with a deep and beautiful ending. The jury also values the endeavour to recover the memory for Latin American cinema, in this case Mexican, of those who have been relegated to oblivion by the industry.

The Sebastiane Latino is born as an extension of the Sebastiane Award, which turns 14 this year. It is born from proximity with Latin America and from the commitment of the Film Festival to its cinema, accredited in sections such as Horizontes Latinos and Films in Progress. From this proximity and from the repercussion of an International Festival, this award wishes to contribute to ensuring that the values of respect and sexual freedom spread in Ibero-America to combat male chauvinism and intolerance.

In a globalized world, where we feel increasingly closer to other countries, cinema can do a great deal to provide references as the basis of respect for the different ways of being, seeing life and feeling.

The Jury watched some 30 films from different countries. Although it only chooses one of them, the aim of their work is to support and recognise all those who have made them possible and to act as a loud speaker for the growing tendency of Latin American cinema to defend LGTB people.

SEBASTIANE LATINO, nueva apuesta en el Festival de Cine de San Sebastián para premiar el cine LGTB latinoamericano.

El Premio Sebastiane Latino reconocerá a la película estrenada el año anterior que mejor represente la diversidad sexual y de género.

Durante la próxima edición del Festival de San Sebastián se hará entrega del primer Premio Sebastiane Latino, un galardón otorgado por la asociación Gehitu al largometraje latinoamericano estrenado el año anterior que mejor represente la defensa de las reivindicaciones y valores de lesbianas, gais, transexuales y bisexuales.

Este premio surge como una prolongación del Premio Sebastiane, un galardón que desde hace 14 años otorga Gehitu como reconocimiento a la producción que mejor refleja la diversidad sexual y de género en las diversas secciones del Festival de San Sebastián. En cambio, el Sebastiane Latino traspasa estas fronteras y premiará la mejor cinta latinoamericana, haya sido proyectada en el festival o no.

El jurado de los dos premios lo componen socias y socios de Gehitu, Asociación de gais, lesbianas,transexuales y bisexuales del País Vasco, y cuenta con la estrecha colaboración del equipo del Festival de San Sebastián.

El Sebastiane Latino nace de la cercanía cultural con América Latina y de la apuesta del Zinemaldi por su cine, acreditada en secciones como “Horizontes Latinos” y “Cine en construcción”. Desde esa proximidad y desde la repercusión de un Festival Internacional, el Festival de San Sebastián quiere colaborar para que los valores de respeto y de libertad sexual avancen en Iberoamérica frente el machismo y la intolerancia.

El jurado valorará aquellas producciones que apoyen al colectivo LGTB. Aunque se elija solo una de ellas, se pretende que este trabajo sirva de apoyo y reconocimiento a todas las personas que las han hecho posible, y también de altavoz a la apuesta creciente del cine latinoamericano en la defensa de las personas LGTB.

Sebastiane Latinoa, Donostia Zinemaldiaren apustu berria Latinoamerikako LGTB zinema saritzeko, Sebastiane Latinoa sariak sexu- eta genero-aniztasuna ondoen ordezkatzen duten filmak errekonozituko ditu, aurreko urtean estreinatuak betiere.

Donostia Zinemaldiaren hurrengo edizioan lehendabiziko Sebastiane Latinoa Saria banatuko da eta Gehitu elkarteak emango du: iaz estreinatutako filma izan beharko du, eta lesbianen, gayen, transexualen eta bisexualen aldarrikapenak eta balioak ondoen defendatzen dituen obrari emango zaio.

Sebastiane Sariaren ondorengo natural gisa sortu dute. Donostia Zinemaldiaren sailetan sexu- eta genero-aniztasuna ondoen islatzen duen ekoizpena errekonozitzen duen Sebastiane sariak (Gehituk ematen duena),14. edizioa izango du aurtengo Zinemaldian. Sebastiane Latinoak, baina, gure mugak gainditu eta Latinoamerikako filmik onena sarituko du, Zinemaldiak proiektatua izan ala ez.

Bi sariotako epaimahaia Gehituko bazkideek eta Euskal Herriko gayen, lesbianen, transexualen eta bisexualen elkarteek osatzen dute, eta Donostia Zinemaldiarekin orpoz orpo lanean jarduten dute.

Sebastiane Latinoa Latinoamerikarekin den gertutasunagatik eta Zinemaldiak herrialde horietako zinemarekin egindako apustuagatik sortu da; nabarmena da apustu hori Horizontes Latinos edota Zinema Eraikitzen sailetan. Era berean, gertutasun hori eta Donostia Zinemaldiaren tankerako jaialdi baten oihartzuna kontuan izanik, Zinemaldiak lankidetzan jardun nahi du errespetuaren eta sexu-askatasunaren balioek Latinoamerikan aurrera egin dezaten, matxismoa eta intolerantzia alde batera utzita.

Epaimahaiak LGTB kolektiboari babesa ematen dioten ekoizpenak balioetsiko ditu. Haietako bakarra aukeratuta ere, lan hori posible egin duten guztiak babestu eta errekonozitu nahi dira, eta, horrez gain, LGTB kolektiboa defendatzen Latinoamerikako zinemak egiten duen gero eta apustu handiagoari oihartzuna eman.

Sebastiane Latino, a new initiative at the San Sebastian Film Festival in celebration of Latin American LGTB cinema, The Sebastiane Latino Award will applaud a film released in the previous year to best represent sexual and gender diversity.

This year’s San Sebastian International Film Festival will include the presentation of the first Sebastiane Latino Award, an award given by the association Gehitu to the Latin American feature film released in the previous year that best represents lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual vindications and values.

This award emerges as a natural spin-off from the Sebastiane Award, a prize granted by Gehitu for 14 years as a recognition to the production that best reflect sexual and gender diversity in the different sections of the San Sebastian Festival. However, the Sebastiane Latino overshoots these borders to applaud the best Latin American film, whether or not it has been screened at the Festival.

The Jury for both awards is made up of members of Gehitu, the Basque Gay, Lesbian, Transgender and Bisexual Association, and enjoys close collaboration with the San Sebastian Festival team.

The Sebastiane Latino Award stems from a cultural proximity with Latin America and from the dedication to its cinema by the Zinemaldi, as vouched for by its “Horizontes latinos” and “Films in Progress” sections. Also drawing on this proximity and on the repercussion of an International Festival such as San Sebastian, our aim is to take a hand in ensuring that the values of respect and sexual freedom gain ground against male chauvinism and intolerance in Ibero-America.

The jury will consider productions that support the LGTB community. Although only one of these works will be chosen, the idea is that the selected work will lend support and recognition to all of the people who have made them possible, and that it will help to raise the voice of the ever-increasing number of films in defence of LGTB people.
